Headquartered in Bratislava, it operates Slovakia\u2019s primary gas distribution network. The company manages more than <strong>33,000 km<\/strong> of pipelines and supplies over <strong>1.5 million customers<\/strong>, covering almost the entire national market. SPP \u2013 distribution is already testing hydrogen solutions \u2013 through its <strong>H2PILOT<\/strong> project, it confirmed that small amounts of hydrogen can be safely injected into the network without major technical modifications. The company is also preparing technical and regulatory adjustments to make the grid ready for <strong>renewable gases, including pure hydrogen<\/strong>. With its infrastructure and expertise, SPP \u2013 distribution is a key partner in the EASTGATEH2V project.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The role of SPP \u2013 distribution in EASTGATEH2V<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>SPP \u2013 distribution joins the project as the operator of Slovakia\u2019s gas distribution network, focusing on how the grid can be prepared for <strong>hydrogen delivery in the Ko\u0161ice region<\/strong>. The company will analyse regional needs and outline the steps necessary to enable future hydrogen distribution.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPP \u2013 distribution will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>prepare a study on adapting the network in Ko\u0161ice \u2013 including connections to the <strong>Haniska node<\/strong> and the <strong> S. Steel Ko\u0161ice<\/strong> plant,<\/li>\n<li>estimate future hydrogen demand, design delivery routes and identify required upgrades to pipelines and regulation stations,<\/li>\n<li>provide technical documentation that may support future permitting and procurement processes,<\/li>\n<li>contribute to a national-level analysis of hydrogen production, distribution and use beyond 2030.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This project phase does not involve building new pipelines \u2013 the objective is to create expert studies and clear plans for future development.
