As a key regional authority, KSK connects innovation, climate ambitions, and long-term territorial development.<\/p><p><strong>KSK\u2019s Key Role in EASTGATEH2V<\/strong><\/p><p>KSK oversees the entire implementation process\u2014from strategic vision and planning to partner coordination and delivery of project outcomes.<\/p><p>As project coordinator, KSK:<\/p><ul><li>coordinates <strong>20 partners from 7 countries<\/strong>,<\/li><li>manages all work packages, including planning, communication, and reporting,<\/li><li>ensures alignment with EU and regional climate policies,<\/li><li>leads the development of a <strong>comprehensive regional hydrogen ecosystem<\/strong>, covering production, distribution, infrastructure, and real-life use cases.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Hydrogen Leadership in the Region<\/strong><\/p><p>Ko\u0161ice Region is recognized as a pioneer in hydrogen development in Slovakia:<\/p><ul><li>developed the <strong>first regional hydrogen strategy<\/strong> in the country, ahead of the national strategy,<\/li><li>collaborates closely with the Technical University of Ko\u0161ice (TUKE) and private sector partners,<\/li><li>co-funded the development of fuel cells, hydrogen buses, and a hydrogen tourist boat,<\/li><li>purchased H2 bikes and actively promotes hydrogen as a safe and clean energy source.<\/li><\/ul><p>Hydrogen buses, boats, drones, and other applications will soon operate within one integrated regional system\u2014making Ko\u0161ice Region a demonstration model for hydrogen mobility and innovation.<\/p><p><strong>Vision for the Future<\/strong><\/p><p>KSK aims to introduce <strong>carbon-neutral mobility<\/strong>, strengthen regional energy resilience, and become an Hydrogen Association (NVAS)<\/strong> is a professional organisation dedicated to supporting hydrogen technologies as a pathway toward climate neutrality and increased energy security. Established in <strong>2015<\/strong>, NVAS was founded through a joint initiative of companies, experts, and public institutions. Local hydrogen production supports emission reduction, strengthens energy security, and contributes to a sustainable future for the Ko\u0161ice Region.<\/p><p><strong>The role of W2H2 KSK in the EASTGATEH2V project<\/strong><\/p><p>As the main technical partner, W2H2 KSK is responsible for developing and operating the core infrastructure needed for hydrogen production and supply.<\/p><p><strong>W2H2 KSK is in charge of:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>preparing the site for a <strong>2 \u00d7 2 MW electrolyser<\/strong>,<\/li><li>leading the design, permitting, procurement and construction of <strong>hydrogen compression, storage and refuelling technologies<\/strong>,<\/li><li>managing logistics and the regional distribution of the produced hydrogen.<\/li><\/ul><p>The hydrogen will be used to power buses, a waste collection truck, a tourist boat, drones and selected industrial operations.<\/p><p>W2H2 KSK will also ensure carbon footprint monitoring and certification of <strong>Guarantees of Origin<\/strong> in line with EU standards. SPP \u2013 distribution is already testing hydrogen solutions \u2013 through its <strong>H2PILOT<\/strong> project, it confirmed that small amounts of hydrogen can be safely injected into the network without major technical modifications. The company is also preparing technical and regulatory adjustments to make the grid ready for <strong>renewable gases, including pure hydrogen<\/strong>. With its infrastructure and expertise, SPP \u2013 distribution is a key partner in the EASTGATEH2V project.<\/p><p><strong>The role of SPP \u2013 distribution in EASTGATEH2V<\/strong><\/p><p>SPP \u2013 distribution joins the project as the operator of Slovakia\u2019s gas distribution network, focusing on how the grid can be prepared for <strong>hydrogen delivery in the Ko\u0161ice region<\/strong>. The company will analyse regional needs and outline the steps necessary to enable future hydrogen distribution.<\/p><p>SPP \u2013 distribution will:<\/p><ul><li>prepare a study on adapting the network in Ko\u0161ice \u2013 including connections to the <strong>Haniska node<\/strong> and the <strong> S.
